FREQUENTLY ASKED NERDY QUESTIONS
At Recycle Nerds we love electronics of all kinds. We were gadget kids through and through growing up and love to play with all electronics. From computers, to gaming systems, to IT equipment, to stereos and speakers – yes we NERD OUT over electronics.
Do My Electronics Need to be in Working Condition?
In a Perfect World – Heck Yes!
Most electronics we receive is usually broken, but sometimes we get lucky and can put a smile on someones face - and that's worth it in our book!
Recycling Electronics if they are in good working condition can help someone in many ways. We like to donate any decent working electronics if they can benefit someone that truly can use them. If they are broken or in poor condition, we process them for down stream recycling to ensure that they do not end up in a landfill. All metals, plastics and recyclable materials are broken down and used to make many types of new items and saves the planet.
What Happens To My Computer Data?
Time to Meet the Shredder!
Since we are BIG TIME Computer Nerds - We make sure all computers and laptops we receive are processed by trained professionals in a controlled environment. We remove all hard drives & memory from computers and then process them in a really cool machine that physically shreds them (think food processor for metal) so that your data can never be retrieved. These materials are then recycled. We keep these hard drives documented and locked up securely until they are shredded. Security is our top priority because nobody wants to fall victim of identity thieves.
What Areas Do You Do Pickups?
We have been proudly serving Montgomery County, PA and Surrounding Communities but we are definitely looking to expand further as we gain more support by our community. Are you out of our area but have a lot of items for us – no problem tell us what you got!
